flexible, full-contact ACS TIGHT
ACS stands for ?Air Control System?. In the ACS TIGHT carry system, the focus is on a full-contact carry teamed with excellent ventilation performance. The central ventilation duct (which also reduces the contact surface), perforated padding and airy mesh covering fabrics facilitate the constant expulsion of warm, damp air from the system and away from the body. The body-hugging fit keeps the load close to the body?s centre of gravity and delivers the required freedom of movement. In the alpine version of the system we use a flexible sprung steel frame for better stability and load control. In this version, the padding and contact surfaces are also extremely breathable. The hiking version of the carry system incorporates aluminium struts for superior shape retention and lateral flexibility. The shoulder straps and waist belt are also more thickly padded than those on the alpine version.

A very light polyamide fabric with a high tearstrength rating. We use it for our Trekking and Hiking rucksacks. The light-weight nylon fabric is inter-woven with ripstop reinforcement threads every few millimetres. If the fabric tears, the rip is stopped by the stronger threads, hence the name: ripstop. This type of construction saves weight and is very robust. We use different strengths (Denier) of CROSS RIP, depending on what a rucksack is used for: - CROSS RIP 300 D: 300 Denier fabric strength, reinforcement threads every 3 mm, used predominantly for Trekking and Hiking rucksacks - CROSS RIP 450 D: 450 Denier fabric strength, reinforcement threads every 4 mm, used predominantly for Trekking rucksacks.

Light, extremely durable nylon, used in our rucksacks. When viewed in cross-section, it has prominent projections resembling nail heads. In the event of abrasion, the nail heads protect the material underneath. NAILHEAD is used in different strengths (Denier) on the pack and base sections of a rucksack, depending on what a rucksack is to be used for.

A special toughened polyethylene material, used as a back plate in our ACS TIGHT carry system. The back plate stops hard items pressing through without restricting freedom of movement. Ventilation openings prevent the build up of warm, moist air produced by the body.
